My passion for cooking began at a very early age, in my mom's kitchen. My first food memory was of her masala box, which I still vividly remember even today. The zing of cumin, the sweet bite of cinnamon, the oomph of mustard seeds, the overpowering peppercorn, the robust flavor of bay leaves, the punch of garam masala and the spicy vigor of chilies all conjure up a sense of home, comfort and happiness for me.
I once asked my mom why she loves to cook and she said that ‘it allows her to express herself’ and share her food memories from her mom, which I found to be very charming.
Learning from the famous chef Harpal Singh Sokhi has fine-tuned my techniques and understanding nuances of reginal cooking and spices.
My food philosophy is to cook with passion, simplicity, freshness and authenticity.
